Webcam recording on the hard drive?

How much space is taken on the hard drive depends codec and bitrate. For example: MPEG-1 video (25fps, 352x288 pixel, 1152kbps) is 10MB/minute. or 700MB/hour. Codecs like XviD / Divx / H264 can record video good quality, even at 512 kbps. This immediately halves the storage requirements. If you drop the refresh rate of 1 fps, you can save the video quality at 256 kbps. This means you can record an hour of video in less than 200MB. HTH
