Tripp Lite SmartPro SMART700DV UPS need help?

i bought 1 of these at a garage sale for $10 problem is it gets a red light under the battery picture n a loud high pitch buzz wont stop until you shut it off it works fine when nothing is plugged into it i had it plugged in and charging while my ps3 was plugged in it should i have not done that and how can i fix it?

My first question is: do you need a UPS?
If you really need a UPS, then you’d be willing to spend the money required to get one (they start at around $80).

You asked a question, so putting my opinion to one side, I shall try to answer it.

The source box has a link to the manual for your UPS.
On page 3 of the manual, it states that the alarm indicates that power failure and low battery conditions. Apparently there is an alarm cancel switch on the front – if you press this and the alarm continue, then the UPS is on low battery.

I assume you have left the UPS for a long time to charge the batteries. As you keep hearing this alarm when you plug things in, it is likely that the batteries are not charging.

It will be cheaper for you to buy a new UPS, instead of trying to repair your current one.
