How long does a thermometer to indicate the correct temperature?
They are like Thermometrs 4.5 inches, the inside of glass tubes of 5.5 inches. that things were in the large floating plastic, for use as in a pool or a large aquarium, but I took them out of the plastic to use for a science project. I wonder how long it takes for thermometers register the correct temperature after being placed in water? and if left in water in glass jars in the sun, the sun is hotter than the actual temperature of water?
the thermometer will register a correct temperature as it reaches equilibrium. There is really no sure way of telling you how to take time, just watch patiently. If it's a sunny day The best way is to cover the thermometer with something, because the sun will affect the reading and make it warmer, that is why The Weather Channel always measure the temperature in the dark to get a more accurate measurement.
