How do I enable "DMA" on, on my PC?
I am a bit stuck trying to burn a DVD using a software called "Sonic MyDVD". My drive is a floppy drive DVD. When he opened for the first time the program warned me that "DMA is disabled for one or more of recording devices and said I needed to switch. Can anyone tell me how I could go on this please?
According to Microsoft: "To repeated DMA errors. In Windows XP will disable DMA for a device after encountering certain errors during transfer operations data. If more than six timeouts occur DMA transfers, in turn, Windows DMA and use only PIO mode on that device. "To enable DMA, right-click My Computer on the desktop, click Properties. This should open the System Properties window. Find and click Device Manager. In the list that comes out, look for "IDE ATA / ATAPI" and click the plus sign (+) next to it. You should see 2 or 3 lines that include: 1. Primary IDE Channel 2. IDE Channel Secodary Double-click Secondary IDE Channel to display its properties. Views on the Advanced Settings tab. Here, all equipment mode "DMA if available". Click OK. Do the same for the devices on the primary IDE channel both changes have taken place, restart the computer to make permanent changes. It is a good idea to go back and verify that the settings of the transfer are not income to PIO. That happens sometimes. Sometimes, the DMA / PIO "sticks" and will not change when you try to select DMA.
