There are persistent rumors in the forums that a possible takeover of Digg by Google imminent.
Chris Lang from Key Web Data also reports that Google has already been testing a Digg like interface that will allow users to for vote sites they like. It has also been reported at TechCrunch where you can see the little voting arrows buttons being tested in a screen shot taken 14 July 2008.
It seems that Google will again be leading the way by possibly becoming a fully fledged ’social search engine’ with features like friends and commenting. Could it be that their new algorythm will take into account the amount of friends you have and how many positive comments you get?
Seems the world of search engine optimization could soon be taking a new tack and that social bookmarking and networking is going to become even more important in the coming days.
It promises to be an interesting ride!
