Apple MacBook black 2.16GHz 3GB RAM limit?

Is it possible to remove the limit of 3 GB of RAM in mid-2007 2.16GHz MacBook. I read that the MacBook will see 4GB, but only be able to use 3 GB.

No limit is a function of the firmware of the motherboard (MLB).
